Visiting Calais and the illegal refugee camps was very challenging. Is always an eye opener to go to a place much reported on the news, to see and experience for yourself.
We had a great team of people helping us navigate round this tricky situation. The original thought was to interview the refugees/migrants themselves, but since none of them were willing to be on camera we had to take a different approach.
We used the audio interviews of the refugees, giving insight on why they didn’t want to be on camera and then sought to gather the volunteers perspective on this situation, which provided real insight from a western perspective:
